Stornoway Historical Society was established in 1992 and has premises at Stornoway Town Hall where a regular series of exhibitions are presented.  The Society hosts a winter series of lectures and publishes a number of books on local subjects as well as its own journal twice a year.  Its website covers many detailed topics relating to the towns history.

The Society have been associated with a local history programme which was broadcast on Isles FM, Local History File, where member’s of the Society would discuss various topics relating to the town.
