About

North Lochs Historical Society was founded in 1988 and is run by a voluntary committee of 12.  The group meet in the Community Centre in Leurbost and its activities cover the communities of Ranish, Crossbost, Grimishader, Leurbost, Lochganvich and Achmore.

The Society publish a quarterly magazine, Dusgadh, and has also published a WWI and WWII Roll of Honour, Balach a Griomiader (Tales of a Lochie), A'Leantainn na Mara - poetry of Donald Angus Macleod of Ranish and Glasgow, Laoich nan Orain (Heroes of Song) and telephone and livestock earmark directories for the area.  The Comann Eachdraidh organises a series of walks in the area and has published a walks leaflet.

Regular ceilidhs have included Buntata agus Sgadan (Potato and Herring) evenings and events and walks are arranged through out the year.
